Job Description
As a Physiotherapist Assessor / Functional Specialist at Capita HAAS (Health Assessment Advisory Service), you'll apply your clinical expertise and analytical skills in a fresh way:
- Meet with benefits claimants in person or via video link
- Write in-depth reports and make critical clinical recommendations

- Flexible hours: full or part-time (minimum 3 days per week)
- Fixed 8:00am–5:00pm working hours (Monday–Friday), no weekend/night shifts (occasional 8:00pm finishes may apply)
- Starting salary: £39,500, advancing to £40,500 after DWP approval
- 10% salary bonus scheme (performance and quality-based)

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct structured assessments evaluating how health conditions impact daily living
- Observe, listen, and gather information with empathy and thoroughness
- Analyse clinical evidence and documentation to establish robust findings
- Produce detailed, evidence-based reports (3,000–4,000 words)
- Provide clear clinical justifications supporting DWP decisions
- Stay updated on non-urgent medical conditions across exceptional medical evidence
Your Tasks Include
- Performing up to 3 assessments/day (face-to-face, via video, or phone)
- Delivering fair, informed recommendations for PIP, ESA, and Universal Credit applications
Requirements & Qualifications
About You
- Must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) with a valid PIN (Professional Registration Number) and no active restrictions
- Minimum 12 months’ post-registration experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills – able to interact with clarity and compassion
- Capable of writing clear, thorough, and accurate reports under time pressure
- Comfortable maintaining high standards in a structured_TARGET-driven environment
- Advanced IT skills (Microsoft Office, capability to learn new systems while fulfilling remote duties)
- Excellent listening and empathy skills – listening to case details and identifying hidden insights
- Access to a vehicle/transport to travel to assessment centres

Successful applicants must undergo: ✅ Government Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) vetting (antiforgery screening) ✅ An enhanced criminal check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Acts — spent and unspent convictions will be scrutinised
