Job Introduction
Are you a Physiotherapist looking for an opportunity to develop your rehabilitation skills while helping people regain their independence?
We’re looking for a motivated Band 5 Physiotherapist to join our Intermediate Care Rehabilitation Service in Luton.
You’ll work as part of a multidisciplinary team, assessing and treating patients in their own homes as well as within rehabilitation beds. You’ll manage your own caseload, working closely with patients and their families to understand what matters to them and develop personalised rehabilitation goals.
Your role will involve completing holistic physiotherapy assessments, planning and delivering appropriate interventions, reviewing progress and adapting treatment plans to help patients achieve the best possible outcomes.
You’ll also have the opportunity to respond to urgent referrals and develop your experience within Intermediate Care, while receiving support and supervision to continue building your clinical confidence and professional skills.

As a Band 5 Physiotherapist within our Luton Intermediate Care Rehabilitation Service, you’ll be part of a supportive multidisciplinary team helping patients recover, regain independence and achieve their rehabilitation goals.
This is a varied role where you’ll work with patients both in their own homes and within rehabilitation beds, giving you the opportunity to develop your clinical skills across a range of presentations and environments.

Main Responsibilities
As a Band 5 Physiotherapist, you will:
- Complete patient-centred and holistic physiotherapy assessments
- Work with patients to establish meaningful and achievable rehabilitation goals
- Plan, deliver and evaluate individualised physiotherapy interventions
- Manage and prioritise your own clinical caseload
- Work with patients both within their own homes and in rehabilitation settings
- Monitor patient progress and adapt treatment programmes where appropriate
- Participate in the response to urgent referrals
- Identify appropriate equipment and resources to support rehabilitation, safety and independence
- Provide clear advice and guidance to patients, families, carers and other professionals
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the multidisciplinary team to provide coordinated care
- Identify and appropriately escalate welfare, safeguarding or clinical concerns
- Maintain clear, accurate and timely clinical records and reports
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, clinical governance activity and audits
- Contribute to evidence-based practice, service improvement and research activity where appropriate
- Maintain your professional development through supervision, reflection and continuing professional development
- Support students where appropriate as your experience develops

The Ideal Candidate
You’ll be a compassionate and motivated Physiotherapist who enjoys working collaboratively with patients to help them achieve meaningful rehabilitation outcomes.
You’ll be comfortable working independently with your own caseload while recognising when advice or additional support is required. You’ll also enjoy being part of a wider multidisciplinary team and contributing to an integrated approach to patient care.
You will have:
- Diploma or BSc in Physiotherapy
- Current HCPC registration as a Physiotherapist
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Knowledge and experience relevant to rehabilitation
- Good physiotherapy assessment and treatment skills
- The ability to establish appropriate functional rehabilitation goals
- An understanding of the principles of Intermediate Care
- Knowledge of safeguarding, clinical governance and professional boundaries
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, carers and healthcare professionals
- Good organisation and time-management skills
- The ability to prioritise and manage your own caseload
- Confidence using IT systems and producing appropriate clinical documentation and reports
- A flexible and collaborative approach to working as part of a multidisciplinary team
- A commitment to your ongoing professional and clinical development
