Physiotherapy Assistant

Brentwood Hospital | Bank | Ad-hoc

Variable Hours from 7:00 on Saturdays

£13.50 per hour

The opportunity

We have a rare opportunity to join our excellent Physiotherapy team at the Nuffield Health Brentwood Hospital as a Physiotherapy Assistant as a bank worker to manage our weekend workload.

As a Physiotherapy Assistant, you will:

  • Deliver high quality, effective clinical care under the supervision of our registered physiotherapists on the ward.
  • Promote multi-disciplinary working alongside the other clinicians on the ward and within the hospital.
  • Assist in the delivery of pre-operative education.
  • Assist with the delivery rehabilitation progression alongside the physiotherapy team.
  • Assist in safe discharge planning including organising social services input and home equipment if required.
  • Ensure that all clinical records are accurately maintained and conform to all legal requirements.
  • Provide administrative assistance, as required, to the department which may include the following tasks:
    • Answering telephone enquiries
    • Booking appointments on to the electronic diary
    • Inputting charges onto the IT system
    • Photocopying and scanning documents
    • Distribution of mail.
  • Escort patients within the physiotherapy department and to other departments within the hospital.
  • Greet all visitors and ensure professional and effective communication with all patients, visitors and other clinical staff.
  • Ensure client’s confidentiality is maintained at all times.
  • Ensure the department maintains a clean, tidy and safe working environment at all times.
  • Be responsible for reviewing and reporting stock level and supplies to ensure the clinical environment is fit for purpose.

The person

To succeed as a Physiotherapy Assistant, you will have:

  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Health and Social Care and/or Level 3 Qualified Personal Trainer or PT level 3 – CIMSPA or Physio in exercise referrals (desired but not essential)
  • Experience working in a hospital or clinical setting, ideally in a health care support or therapy assistant role, or community based physical activity programmes.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Leadership & influencing skills.
  • Motivational and engaging personality.
  • Passion to make a difference.
  • Strong organisation skills, with ability to manage time and workload effectively.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as a team player and share best practice.
  • Competent computer skills.
