Physiotherapy Assistant - Neurology Opportunity
Are you an experienced Physiotherapy Assistant with an interest in Neurology? Would you like an opportunity to develop your skills in this area?
An exciting maternity leave cover opportunity has arisen to join the Physical Disability Physiotherapy Service (PDPS) as a Band 4 Physiotherapy Assistant.
This will be a secondment or fixed-term post for an initial 6-month period (there may be an opportunity to extend this).
About the Role
PDPS are a community-based, specialist neuro-physiotherapy service working with adults living with long-term and complex neurological conditions.
The post holder will work alongside specialist Physiotherapists to deliver a high-quality service to individuals within a variety of community settings including individual’s homes, online, in gyms etc.
The post holder will work primarily in the South of Oxfordshire with a base at Abingdon Community Hospital. A valid UK driving license with access to a suitable work vehicle is essential.
This position is part time for 18.75 hours per week. The core service currently runs from Monday to Friday 08:30 – 16:30 (flexibility within the week to work the hours).
Responsibilities
- To work alone in a variety of community settings with clients and carers, eg: home environment, sports centre, hospital clinic.
- To complete independent assessments for review clients or for walking aid and small equipment provision.
- To deliver effective physiotherapeutic intervention following management/ treatment plans prepared by the physiotherapist.
- To organise and independently deliver exercise sessions/gymnasium sessions for clients in community settings or online in conjunction with the physiotherapist.
- To demonstrate a clear understanding and apply the principles of self-management and personalised care within long-term disability management.
- To show due regard for the client’s physical and psychosocial needs and recognise change in the client’s condition.
- To accept responsibility for a clinical caseload, and to organise this effectively with due regard for clinical priorities and the geographical area covered.
- To demonstrate well-developed communication skills when working with clients, including those who have cognitive or speech problems, language or cultural differences and when dealing with sensitive or contentious issues.
- To demonstrate well-developed handling skills when treating clients.
- To support the PDPS by carrying out administration tasks.
