Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Physiotherapist to join our Vascular, Surgery and Renal Physiotherapy team as a Clinical Team Lead at Southmead Hospital.
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled clinician with a passion for leadership, service development and delivering high-quality patient care. You will lead a dedicated team of Physiotherapists and Therapy Support Workers across vascular, renal, urology and colorectal services, while maintaining a specialist clinical role within the pathway.
The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping and developing services, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues to improve patient outcomes and ensure the delivery of safe, effective and innovative care. A particular focus of the role is the provision of specialist physiotherapy support for patients undergoing lower limb amputation, from pre-operative assessment through to early rehabilitation.

Main duties of the job
- Provide clinical leadership to physiotherapy staff and therapy support workers within the vascular, surgery and renal pathway, overseeing the day-to-day running of the team and supporting service planning, coordination, delivery and evaluation.
- Work as an autonomous, highly skilled clinician to deliver specialist physiotherapy assessment, treatment, advice and education for patients, carers/families and staff across the vascular, surgery (urology and colorectal) and renal caseload.
- Provide specialist assessment and treatment for acute amputees, including pre-amputation advice, contribution to MDT discussions regarding level of amputation, and delivery of pre-prosthetic rehabilitation in line with relevant guidelines, including the use of early walking aids. Liaison with the Bristol Centre for Enablement regarding the ongoing management of amputees.
- Act as the Physiotherapy Clinical Lead within the multidisciplinary team, providing specialist advice to colleagues and working closely with consultants and the wider MDT to formulate appropriate management plans.
- Provide training, education and expert guidance to healthcare professionals, junior physiotherapists and students, acting as a specialist resource within the Physiotherapy service.
- Work with, and deputise for, the Pathway Lead Physiotherapist as appropriate.

- Range of Relevant Postgraduate Courses relevant to speciality
- Clinical Educators Training
Desirable criteria
- MSc or Working towards M level or equivalent experience
- Appropriate managerial training
Work Experience
Essential criteria
- Comprehensive post graduate experience within speciality
- Experience of supervising staff who are directly accountable to the post holder
- Experience in completing audit and evidence-based projects
Desirable criteria
- Previous band 7 / team lead experience
- Involvement in research
- Evidence of presenting to MDT groups, undergrad or post grad staff
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Essential criteria
- Specialist knowledge of evidence based physiotherapy within speciality including relevant guidelines
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent time management, prioritisation, and organisational skills
