General Information

We're recruiting for a Pig Fields Person for a farm in Leicestershire.

Our client is a leading agricultural business specialising in the breeding and rearing of pigs to the highest RSPCA Assured standards. They offer employees the opportunity to work within an innovative, industry-leading farming environment.

They are looking to employ a dedicated Fields Person to join their team. You will work on a number of units within the Leicester/Nottingham area. This position will be working within the existing team, ensuring smooth running of pig health, welfare & movements across the farming business.

The pigs coming in will range from 7kg to 120kg. It will be multiple sites depending on area and experience of the candidate, and experience in nursery and finishing pigs would be preferable, but training will be available, and the correct attitude and enthusiasm are most key.

Key Responsibilities

  • Building and maintaining strong working relationships with our contract growers and finishers
  • Assisting with stock movements and advising on pig selection for slaughter, ensuring they meet the target weight and quality
  • Ensuring the day-to-day health of livestock is in line with RSPCA assurance standards and Company policy, advising when required
  • Communication with the production team on a regular basis to ensure smooth running of all operations

About You

  • Experience with handling livestock and a keen interest in the pig industry and animal welfare is essential for this role
  • Ability to prioritise and complete tasks fully with strong attention to detail is a must
  • The ability to work remotely with minimal supervision
  • You must be a self-starter with a strong work ethic and a desire to exceed expectations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential
  • Full UK Driving Licence
