Overview A well-established engineering consultancy in Teesside is seeking an experienced Piping Designer to support ongoing projects across the process, industrial and manufacturing sectors. This role offers the opportunity to work within a close-knit technical team delivering high-quality design solutions for a range of clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed piping layouts, isometrics and general arrangement drawings in line with project specifications.
  • Develop 2D and 3D models using industry-standard CAD software.
  • Interpret P&IDs, engineering drawings and client requirements to create accurate design packages.
  • Work closely with engineers, project managers and other designers to ensure coordinated and compliant designs.
  • Conduct site surveys, gather technical information and translate findings into workable design outputs.
  • Ensure all designs meet relevant codes, standards and safety requirements.
  • Support project delivery through design updates, revisions and technical input during construction phases.

Experience & Skills Required

  • Proven background as a Piping Designer within engineering, process plant, chemical, manufacturing or similar environments.
  • Strong proficiency in CAD tools (AutoCAD, Plant 3D, or equivalent).
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, piping specifications and engineering documentation.
  • Experience producing isometrics, layouts and fabrication drawings.
  • Good understanding of piping materials, supports, routing and industry standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently within a small team.
  • Comfortable conducting site visits and translating real-world conditions into design solutions.

Desirable

  • Experience within consultancy or multi-client project environments.
  • Knowledge of pressure systems, mechanical design principles or stress analysis.
  • Familiarity with 3D laser scanning or point-cloud modelling.
