Role: Mechanical Piping Engineer

Location: Daresbury

Contract: Contract, 12 months

Start Date: August 2026

Workscope

We are seeking a Mechanical Piping Engineer (design) to support onshore EPCM process sector upgrade and new build projects.

  • You will work as part of our multidisciplinary EPCM team, supporting the delivery of engineering projects from concept design through to detailed design, procurement, construction support and commissioning.
  • You will be involved in a variety of UK onshore process industry projects and will collaborate closely with clients, project managers, designers and fellow engineering disciplines to support successful project delivery.

Services to be provided

  • Produce mechanical and piping engineering design packages
  • Develop specifications for piping systems, pressure equipment, pumps, valves, tanks, heat exchangers and associated mechanical equipment.
  • Perform engineering calculations and equipment assessments.
  • Review and approve mechanical and piping design deliverables.
  • Participate in HAZOPs, design reviews and multidisciplinary project meetings.
  • Undertake site surveys and technical inspections.
  • Support procurement activities including technical bid evaluations and vendor engagement.
  • Provide construction and commissioning support where required.
  • Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with applicable legislation, industry standards and company procedures.
  • Contribute to project schedules, estimates and technical proposals

Experience & Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrable experience within UK onshore process industries such as chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, food & beverage, manufacturing or energy.
  • Design office experience is essential
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and piping design principles.
  • Familiarity with relevant standards and codes including ASME, API, PD5500, PED, PSSR, ISO and EEMUA guidance.
  • Experience producing or reviewing mechanical and piping engineering documentation.
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills.
