The Piping Supervisor will be responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient execution of piping installation and associated mechanical construction activities at Hinkley Point C.

The role will supervise pipefitters, welders, riggers, and subcontractor personnel, ensuring work is carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, inspection requirements, programme milestones, and HPC nuclear safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise day-to-day piping construction activities, including fabrication, fit-up, erection, installation, supports, valve installation, and mechanical completion.
  • Lead pipefitting and piping teams and allocate manpower according to the approved work programme.
  • Review and interpret P&IDs, piping isometrics, GA drawings, support drawings, specifications, and work packages.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with approved method statements, risk assessments, ITPs, and construction procedures.
  • Maintain a strong nuclear safety culture and demonstrate visible front-line HSE leadership.
  • Conduct pre-start briefings, toolbox talks, and daily task briefings.
  • Ensure compliance with site permit, access, lifting, exclusion-zone, and other applicable safety controls.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, QA/QC, HSE, Planning, Commissioning, and other construction disciplines.
  • Verify availability and correct identification of piping materials, spools, valves, fittings, supports, consumables, tools, and equipment before work starts.
  • Supervise piping fit-up, alignment, welding, and installation activities in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Coordinate inspection and testing activities with QA/QC and NDT personnel.
  • Prepare piping systems for pressure testing, hydrotesting, flushing, cleaning, drying, and reinstatement.
  • Ensure test packs and associated construction records are completed accurately.
  • Monitor productivity, manpower, work-front availability, and daily progress against the construction programme.
  • Identify constraints, delays, and technical issues and escalate them promptly.
  • Support punch-list clearance, mechanical completion, and system handover.
  • Ensure construction records, inspection records, and other required documentation are maintained and traceable.
  • Manage and coordinate subcontractors and ensure compliance with HPC/project requirements.
  • Promote continuous improvement and identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Ensure trainees and apprentices receive appropriate supervision and development where applicable.
