FyreFlight

FyreFlight is a small UK indie studio. We shipped Drunk Wizard Dungeoneer on Steam to a positive reception, and we're now building Under the Flag, a hybrid 2D-3D tactical pirate roguelike with crew management, ship-to-ship combat, permadeath, and an event-driven story.

The role

We need a skilled pixel animator to build the motion foundation for our characters: a reusable, 8-directional animated base, think a proportion-locked "mannequin" or clean silhouette rig, that our in-house artists render final art on top of.

You're animating the motion and timing, as a template for our artists in-house. We want to skin crew members and enemies over it. We have a fairly large animation list, so there's scope for ongoing work for the right fit.

What you'll deliver

  • An 8-directional animated base, with proportions and anchor/pivot points locked and consistent across every direction
  • The agreed animation set on that base (idle, walk, run, combat, hurt, death, plus a few pirate-specific actions — full list includes 25 animations, many of which are 2-3 frames)
  • Clean, readable silhouettes — grayscale/greybox is fine
  • Delivered as sprite sheets and individual frames, plus editable source files (Aseprite preferred)
  • Consistent frame counts and a documented grid + naming convention

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
