Placement Student – Electronic System Engineering

WE ARE LOOKING FOR AN ENTHUSIASTIC ELECTRONIC SYSTEM ENGINEERING STUDENT TO JOIN OUR TEAM SPECIALISING IN CONTROLS & ELECTRONICS FOR OUR ENGINE BUSINESS SEGMENT IN DARLINGTON, UNITED KINGDOM

DURING YOUR PLACEMENT WITH US, YOU WILL LEARN HOW A MAJOR GLOBAL ORGANISATION OPERATES, GAINING THE TOOLS AND EXPOSURE YOU WILL NEED TO BECOME AN EXPERT IN THE INDUSTRY.

THE REQUIREMENTS ARE TO BE ONSITE FOR 3 DAYS PER WEEK SO YOU WILL NEED TO BE ABLE TO TRAVEL OR RELOCATE TO THE LOCATION ON YOUR OWN BEHALF

This role is available to candidates who qualify for a placement year and will commence in Summer 2027.

RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Supporting Engineering: Assisting developing requirements of L Platform Global VII engine. Support with building test benches and wiring schematics.
  • Compliance Knowledge: Developing and maintaining laboratory environment and automation testing using CAN tools and other tools for data acquisition.
  • Employee Relations: Assisting other team members within the controls and electronics organization.
  • Policy Adherence: Ensuring all lab safety and policies are met and followed.
  • Team Support: Supporting team members in need of controls setup and system integration.
  • Report Management: Understanding and assisting in controls automation testing and generation of test reports that meets with today’s V-model structure.
  • Record Keeping: Coordinating and maintaining laboratory test setups, materials, and component inventories.

  • We are looking for a wide range of candidates studying towards an Automation/ Energy/ Electrical/ Automotive Engineering degree course.
  • Strong logical thinking, effective time management, and collaborative teamwork skills.
  • Ability to show initiative with a creative mindset.
  • Evidence of extra-curricular or voluntary experience in line with Cummins company values may be beneficial.
