PLACEMENT STUDENT – EMEA Supplier Quality

We are looking for an enthusiastic EMEA Supplier Quality Placement Student to join our team specializing in Quality for our Cummins Emission Solutions segment in UK, Darlington. During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry and power your potential!

This role is available to candidates who qualify for a placement year and will commence Summer of 2027. This is a Hybrid role and require 3 days onsite at Darlington.

RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Support VPI Supplier Quality Program Leads with delivery of Cummins prototype and production quality expectations within the supplier base by working in close partnership with external suppliers in order to improve quality and program outcomes.
  • Build strong relationships as an extended member of the project Core Team and integrate with the technical function and supporting Supplier Quality Engineers to understand if new product designs and/or technologies can be repeatedly manufactured by external suppliers.
  • Working with the Purchasing function to enable the Value Package Introduction (VPI) program to utilize suppliers that meet both quality and cost expectations.
  • Partner with Category-oriented Supplier Quality Engineering resources to ensure robust resolution of externally supplied product quality or manufacturing quality issues.
  • Support, or lead root cause analysis, development of corrective actions and verification of the effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Apply data visualisation tools to inform management and/or key stakeholders of project status (PowerBI).

QUALIFICATIONS

  • To be successful in this role you will need the following:
  • Studying a degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Project Management or equivalent discipline.
  • Project Management expertise to be able to plan, execute and deliver projects efficiently.
  • Delivery of document creation, data analysis, presentations and communication (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote).
  • Knowledge of supplier quality control processes, manufacturing process validation and/or engineering drawing controls (GD&T) to communicate design intent.
  • Understanding and application of AI tools (ChatGPT, Copilot).
