Placement Student – Engineering Plant Support
We are looking for an enthusiastic Engineering Plant Support Placement Student to join our team specialising in engineering for our Power Systems business segment in Daventry, United Kingdom.
During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organisation operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry.
The requirements are to be onsite for 3 days per week so you will need to be able to travel or relocate to the location on your own behalf.
This role is available to candidates who qualify for a placement year and will commence in Summer 2027.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- As part of the team, you will act as a key link between Operations teams - including Quality, Manufacturing, and Materials Planning - and Engineering, supporting effective communication and collaboration across functions.
- You will work cross-functionally in a fast-paced manufacturing environment to identify and resolve a wide range of technical and operational issues across the Engine, Genset, and Cylinder Head Assembly Lines, as well as the Cylinder Block Machining Line and Production Test Cells.
- You will lead technical investigations and collaborate with Subject Matter Experts and cross-functional teams to identify root causes, implement effective containment actions, and drive issues through to resolution.
- You will lead at least one long-term Plant Derived Engineering Change Request (PDECR) from concept through implementation - this will involve applying basic project management principles, developing and evaluating multiple engineering concepts, leading design reviews, coordinating stakeholder input, and securing the necessary approvals to release the final solution.
- Through this role, you will build a strong cross-functional network while developing broad technical skills and in-depth product knowledge.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- In the process of completing a degree with a 12-month placement year in mechanical, automotive, aeronautical engineering or relevant STEM degrees.
- Ability to communicate both written and orally on work tasks.
- Ability to work alone or as part of a team (with support as required)
- Confidence in office work environment and working on MS office (PowerPoint and Excel)
