Placement Student – Health, Safety & Environment, Logistics
We are looking for an enthusiastic student who is interested in Health, Safety, and Environment to join our team specializing in Health and Safety for our Corporate business segment in Daventry, Logistics Centre in the UK. During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry.
This role is available to candidates who qualify for a placement year and will commence Summer of 2027.
RESPONSIBILITIES
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Support the HSE team with the day-to-day implementation and maintenance of site Health, Safety and Environmental management systems; assist with workplace inspections, safety walks and audits, identifying hazards and opportunities for improvement, the completion and review of risk assessments, safe systems of work and other HSE documentation.
- Assist with incident, near-miss and hazard investigations, including gathering information, identifying contributing factors and tracking corrective actions; help maintain HSE records, databases and performance metrics, supporting the preparation of reports, dashboards and presentations.
- Support the monitoring and closure of HSE actions arising from incidents, audits, inspections and risk assessments; support the site's environmental activities, including waste management, energy reduction, environmental inspections and sustainability initiatives.
- Participate in HSE improvement projects aimed at reducing risk and improving workplace safety; assist with the development and delivery of HSE communications, awareness campaigns, toolbox talks and employee engagement activities.
- Work with operational teams to promote safe working practices, including areas such as pedestrian/PIV segregation, manual handling, ergonomics, storage and warehouse safety; support HSE training activities, including maintaining training records and helping develop training and awareness materials.
- Participate in HSE meetings and committees, preparing information and following up agreed actions where required; work collaboratively with Operations, Facilities, Training, Engineering and other functions to support HSE objectives and undertake HSE projects and improvement assignments appropriate to the student's level of experience and development objectives.
- Support contractor safety activities where appropriate, including documentation reviews, inductions and monitoring of work activities; gain practical experience and understanding of relevant HSE legislation, company standards and management systems, including ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 principles; engage with employees across the site to help promote a positive and proactive safety culture.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Working towards a degree in Business management or Health, Safety and Environmental related field; previous experience in a HSE role would be beneficial but is not required.
- Ability to understand data, solve problems and think innovatively.
- Excellent IT Skills, in particular Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to manage workload effectively and work well as part of a team.
