Placement Student – Health, Safety & Environment, Huddersfield
We are looking for an enthusiastic Health, Safety & Environment placement student to join our Environment for our Components and Software Business Segment in Huddersfield. During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry.
This role is available to candidates who qualify for a placement year and will commence Summer of 2027. This role will largely be onsite for the best experience so you must be able to travel to the location although some hybrid working can be considered if required.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Data-Driven Improvement: Evaluates sustainability, environment and safety data, audit results and findings to create risk-based improvement plans that inform strategy and protect people and the environment.
- Collaborates: Building strong partnerships and working cross-functionally to meet shared objectives and foster a culture of teamwork and trust.
- Action Oriented: Taking on new opportunities and tough challenges with urgency, high energy and enthusiasm to drive meaningful results.
- Embraces Technology: Efficient use of Microsoft Office packages, ability to learn and adapt to new systems and technologies, understanding of PowerBi would be an advantage.
- Health, Safety and Environmental Fundamentals: Champions and models proactive health, safety and environment behaviors by identifying, reporting and participating in actions to improve health, safety and environment in order to build an interdependent culture and contribute to an incident-free workplace.
- Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance and Auditing: Evaluates conformance and compliance with established regulations, standards and internal HSE requirements.

Requirements
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Studying towards a degree in STEM, Business-related or other relevant subject; competence with Microsoft office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, experience of Power Bi would be advantageous.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence engaging with people at different levels of an organisation; ability to work collaboratively as part of a cross-functional team while also showing initiative and working independently.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and identify trends; organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks or projects; a practical and curious approach, with an interest in understanding manufacturing processes and how work is performed.
- An interest in occupational health, safety, environmental management, ergonomics, sustainability or risk management; continuous improvement and developing practical solutions to workplace HSE challenges.
