Placement Student – Hosted Finance

We are looking for an enthusiastic Hosted Finance Placement Student to join our team specializing in Finance for our Engine Business segment in UK, Darlington. During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry and power your potential!

This role is available to candidates who qualify for a placement year and will commence Summer of 2027.

RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Support the Finance team with month-end close activities, including journal preparation, account reconciliations, and reporting; assist with financial analysis, variance investigations, and forecasting activities to support business decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and data analysis tools using Excel, Power BI, and other finance systems; work with stakeholders across Finance and wider business functions to resolve queries and improve processes.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to automate, simplify, and standardise finance processes; assist with the preparation of presentations and financial summaries for management reviews.
  • Participate in business projects and gain exposure to different areas of finance based on business requirements, help maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls.
  • Collaborate with other placement students across the site on community engagement and cross-functional projects.
  • Take ownership of assigned tasks and projects, delivering high-quality work within agreed timelines.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Working towards a degree in Accounting, Finance, or related subject.
  • Excellent IT Skills, in particular Excel and Microsoft.
  • A willingness to challenge the norm and constantly look for improvements.
  • Competent in using collaboration tools such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams
