The Role

As a Broker in our Professional Services division, you will be responsible for providing exceptional input to team meetings, sharing valuable observations from the market, and effectively resolving client issues.

What you'll do

  • Planning work activities to achieve team objectives and meet agreed targets
  • Ensuring flawless project management and contributing to other projects as required
  • Reviewing submissions to ensure comprehensive and accurate information is presented to the market, while devising placing strategies and identifying effective product layering to meet client demands and needs
  • Working with underwriters to place insurance that balances quality, coverage, and price
  • Reviewing wordings and gathering market intelligence to ensure our product offering remains up to date and relevant
  • Developing strong relationships with markets and providing broking guidance and support for junior team members
  • Responding to market and third-party queries as appropriate
  • Maintaining up-to-date records on the company's systems and adhering strictly to company procedures and compliance requirements for documentation and communication

Who we're looking for

  • Proven experience in a similar or related role
  • Excellent knowledge of the insurance market and specific product knowledge, enabling you to make informed decisions and recommendations
  • A good understanding of regulatory and legal frameworks to ensure compliance and mitigate risks
  • A professional approach with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, allowing you to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues alike
  • The ability to work independently, use initiative, and meet tight deadlines, showcasing your self-motivation and time management skills
  • Calm and resilient under pressure, with the ability to positively react to change and adapt quickly to new circumstances
  • Strong mediation and influencing skills, allowing you to effectively advocate for client needs and secure favourable outcomes
  • A strong understanding of business operations, enabling you to align your work with broader organisational objectives
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) to ensure a solid foundation in core skills
  • A levels (desirable) to demonstrate your academic achievements and dedication to continuous learning
  • Attainment of the LLMIT (the Lloyd's and London Market Introductory Test), where relevant to the role, indicating your comprehensive understanding of the London insurance market
  • Working towards or having attained ACII (desirable but not crucial), showcasing your commitment to professional development and industry knowledge
