About the Role
This critical position reports directly to the Maintenance Technical Leader. Your responsibilities will revolve around ensuring optimal equipment performance, maintenance compliance, and process improvement within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain equipment through planned AM/PM tasks, ensuring timely execution and adherence to the equipment maintenance plan.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Planner to document and manage maintenance schedules effectively.
- Conduct regular maintenance audits, identifying growth opportunities to enhance the PM (Preventative Maintenance) program and TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) activities.
- Support plant shut-downs by performing essential maintenance activities to maximize equipment availability.
- Mentor and train unit technical staff on best practices in troubleshooting, operational repairs, and equipment standards.
- Proactively assist the manufacturing unit team in diagnosing and resolving production-related maintenance issues.
- Lead TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) initiatives as assigned.
- Supply chain coordination for spare parts and materials required during planned maintenance and equipment rebuilds.
- Adapt to flexible shifts and schedules, including on-call tasks as needed.
- Comply with all BD quality systems, global standards, local regulations, safety policies, and international compliance rules.
- Ensuring 100% punctual attendance is a core aspect of this role.

Why We Need You Here
✔ Must have a Level 3 qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. ✔ Several years of experience in manufacturing maintenance, ideally with high-volume production environments. ✔ Demonumerable experience with maintenance systems like SAP. ✔ Knowledge of TPM techniques and strong problem-solving skills. ✔ Fluent English (spoken, written, and technical conformity needed). ✔ Willingness to uphold BD’s values—our foundation of Collaboration, Respect, Entrepreneurial Thinking, Accountability and Customer Focus.
Salary & Options
Salary range: £35,000–£37,000 per year (including full benefits package). (Note: The system also references £25,000–£38,125, though the key advertised range remains £35K–£37K for clarity.)
Additional note: BD provides localised pay scales that may adjust based on factors such as experience, market location, or step-pay progression.
Workplace Details
- Primary Location: Becton Dickinson (BD) Plymouth – Belliver Industrial Estate
- Work Shift: 0830–1630 (UK Time)
- Expected On-Site Engagement: 4+ days per week (collaboration and teamwork are inherent to BD’s culture).
