Planned Maintenance Technician
Location: Plymouth, England, United Kingdom

About the Role
We are currently recruiting for a Planned Maintenance Technician to join a leading medical technology manufacturing environment in Plymouth.
Working as part of the maintenance team, you will be responsible for carrying out planned and preventive maintenance activities to ensure production equipment remains safe, reliable and available. You will also provide technical support to manufacturing teams and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced maintenance professional with a background in manufacturing or production environments who enjoys troubleshooting, improving equipment performance and working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and preventive maintenance (PM) activities in line with the established maintenance schedule.
- Complete maintenance activities accurately and on time, ensuring all work is properly documented.
- Work closely with the Maintenance Planner to ensure maintenance tasks and records are kept up to date.
- Conduct equipment maintenance audits and identify opportunities to improve maintenance effectiveness and equipment reliability.
- Support Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with the preparation of spare parts, tools and materials required for planned maintenance and equipment rebuilds.
- Carry out maintenance activities during scheduled plant shutdown periods when required.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing teams to resolve equipment and production-related maintenance issues.
- Share technical knowledge and assist with the training and development of maintenance personnel across different shifts.
- Apply effective troubleshooting and repair techniques to minimise equipment downtime.
- Support toolroom and manufacturing-related technical activities where required.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are performed in accordance with applicable quality, safety and company procedures.
- Contribute to a strong culture of health, safety, quality and continuous improvement.

About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- A Level 3 qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent vocational qualification.
- 2+ years of maintenance experience, preferably within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Experience maintaining production equipment, ideally within a high-volume manufacturing setting.
- Good knowledge of maintenance systems, procedures and documentation.
- Experience with SAP or another Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) would be advantageous.
- Knowledge or practical experience of TPM / Total Productive Maintenance principles.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- The ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- A proactive, reliable and decisive approach to maintenance and problem solving.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Flexibility to adjust working hours when required for planned maintenance and plant shutdown activities.
