Assistant Planner / Planner

Location: Somerset

Salary: £65,000 - £75,000

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Planner to join our project delivery team, supporting the successful planning and execution of major industrial, logistics, pharmaceutical, and hyperscale data centre projects throughout the Somerset region.

Working closely with project teams from pre-construction through to project completion, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing project programmes, identifying risks and opportunities, and providing strategic planning support to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-value projects within some of the UK's fastest-growing sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed project programmes using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
  • Produce tender, pre-construction, and construction programmes.
  • Establish project baselines and monitor progress against key milestones.
  • Conduct critical path analysis and identify programme risks and mitigation measures.
  • Collaborate with project managers, commercial teams, design consultants, and subcontractors to develop realistic delivery strategies.
  • Prepare programme updates, progress reports, and earned value analysis for internal and client reporting.
  • Support resource and logistics planning activities across multiple projects.
  • Evaluate the impact of change, delays, and disruptions on project delivery.
  • Assist in the preparation and assessment of extension of time submissions where required.
  • Participate in client meetings and provide planning expertise throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within project controls and planning functions.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
