About the Role:
The UK Planning Director is responsible for managing a team of planners within their region and is ultimately responsible for the quality of programmes and service provided by the planners within their region. The Planning Director is accountable for the implementation of Group Planning Strategy and Governance and the adherence to all Group level Standards and Procedures within their region. The planners within each specific region, through their regional Lead Planners report to the Planning Director who in turn reports directly to the Regional Operations Director and indirectly to the Group Planning Director.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation of the Group Planning Strategy across the region, aligning planning activities with business objectives.
- Set planning priorities based on project performance, risk, and resource requirements.
- Manage planning resources, team structure, recruitment, and succession planning across the region.
- Provide oversight of programme performance, risk management, change control, and recovery planning.
- Ensure consistent application of planning standards, governance, controls, and reporting processes.
- Support contractual processes through robust programme management, change control, and delay analysis.
- Lead, mentor, and develop planning teams to drive performance, capability, and continuous improvement.
- Act as the regional planning lead, supporting project delivery, bids, and strategic business initiatives.

Key Requirements:
- Proven experience leading planning or project controls teams within construction, engineering, energy, or infrastructure sectors.
- Demonstrated ability to manage, develop, and mentor planners across multiple projects.
- Experience driving planning standards, governance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong understanding of planning, scheduling, forecasting, programme controls, and reporting.
- Knowledge of construction contracts, change management, and extension of time processes.
- Commercial awareness with the ability to manage programme risk and support key business decisions.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
- Relevant experience within civil engineering, utilities, power, renewable energy, or infrastructure environments.
