Planning Engineer

Harvey Nash is now inviting candidates to apply for the role of Planning Engineer, an initial six-month contract.

Job Details

  • Location: Hybrid to an office in Scotland; Glasgow, Perth, or Aberdeen
  • Rate: Daily rate of £500 - £600 a day
  • Setup: Umbrella set up only
  • Requirements: Background in Energy, Capital Projects, Water, Defence, or Utilities highly regarded
  • Necessary Experience:
    • Experience of NEC3 and Primavera P6
    • Driving Licence essential due to the remote location of site visits

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Project Planner with strong expertise in developing and managing construction-focused project schedules throughout the full project lifecycle. The ideal candidate should be adept at reviewing contractor schedules for compliance and integrity, identifying delays and risks, and implementing mitigation strategies.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience as a Planning Engineer using Primavera P6 on large-scale construction or infrastructure projects.
  • A solid understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, and site execution, gained through hands-on experience with multidisciplinary project delivery teams.
  • Practical experience working under NEC3/FIDIC contracts, including assessing delay impacts, change events, and contractor claims.
  • Expertise in reviewing complex programmes and ensuring quality.
  • Demonstrated ability to use Primavera P6 to build and manage complex, logic-linked construction programmes.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A clear track record of specific projects you’ve supported, with defined roles, responsibilities, and client or contractor organisations that demonstrate your ability to deliver in a complex project environment.
  • A proactive, can-do attitude and solid knowledge of Microsoft 365 Office Suite.
