Lead the Planning Behind Major Infrastructure Projects.

Are you an experienced Planning Manager looking to make a real impact on complex, high-value infrastructure programmes?

We're partnering with a leading engineering and infrastructure organisation to recruit an ambitious Planning Manager who will play a critical role in shaping the successful delivery of a major capital project in the South East.

This is more than managing programmes it's an opportunity to influence strategy, drive project performance, and lead a high-performing planning function at the heart of nationally significant infrastructure.


The Opportunity

As Planning Manager, you'll lead the planning strategy across complex multidisciplinary projects, ensuring programmes are robust, integrated and aligned with delivery objectives.

  • Working closely with senior project leaders, commercial teams and technical specialists, you'll provide the insight and leadership needed to drive performance, improve certainty and support successful project delivery from concept through to construction.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead and develop a high-performing planning team across major infrastructure programmes.
  • Establish planning best practice, governance and consistent delivery standards.
  • Develop, maintain and optimise integrated project programmes using Primavera P6.
  • Align project schedules with commercial, risk and construction strategies to support successful delivery.
  • Provide meaningful programme reporting, forecasting and critical path analysis to senior stakeholders.
  • Identify programme risks, opportunities and recovery strategies to improve project performance.
  • Translate complex programme data into clear, actionable insights that support strategic decision-making.
  • Work collaboratively across engineering, commercial, delivery and project controls teams to ensure programme certainty.
  • Champion continuous improvement across planning processes, systems and project delivery.

What You'll Bring

  • Proven experience as a Planning Manager or Senior Planner on large-scale infrastructure or major capital projects.
  • Strong expertise in developing and managing complex integrated programmes using Primavera P6.
  • Excellent understanding of project controls, programme management and construction planning principles.
  • Demonstrable experience leading, mentoring and developing planning teams.
  • Strong commercial awareness with experience aligning programmes to project budgets and delivery objectives.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Experience working within structured governance and programme assurance environments.
  • Experience within ground engineering or geotechnical projects would be advantageous but is not essential.
