Job Purpose / Overview

The Planning Manager is a key member of the team to deliver the varied nature of works that form the BMJV project. You will be required to develop and manage sections of the portion schedule on a day-to-day basis, working with the wider project controls team. The role will also include collating data for both Earned Value Analysis and Project Controls.

Principal Accountabilities, Activities and Decisions

  • Planning and managing the development and improvement of the Works Schedule. This will also require you to provide planning guidance to the project team.
  • Ensuring that the schedule content is compliant with the planning procedures, guidance, and good practice.
  • Develop and agree by collaboration a logical sequence and methodology ensuring that the most efficient design, procurement, and construction strategy is adopted for the delivery of the works.
  • Producing and documenting the planning deliverables including schedule, planning philosophy, presentations, and reports and supporting information including the narrative document in accordance with the contract requirements.
  • Providing support, as required, to the BIM Co-ordinators to meet the project requirements.
  • Displaying and evaluating the project critical path and advising the project team of the results and any appropriate corrective action.
  • Assisting in the trend and change process, including analysis of schedule impact, developing mitigation options, providing commentary and analysis to accompany the change submission. You will be expected to support the commercial assessment of the change by ensuring that the change is clearly understood to allow the optimal evaluation of the change.
  • Liaise with site team and supply chain to check on progress, issues, and changes/alterations to ensure the programme is maintained and reflective of the future work sequence and expected timings.
  • Review medium-term delivery programmes and align with the main programme. Where applicable, challenge and drive improved delivery plans. If necessary, amend the variances into the master programme if validated.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
