A fantastic opportunity to join a leading Tier 1 Main Contractor delivering one of the UK's flagship Life Sciences developments. With a project value exceeding £500m, this is a rare opportunity to play a key role in the successful delivery of a major, technically complex scheme in Oxford.
As Planning Manager, you will take ownership of a large section on a landmark Life Sciences project, leading the development, management and control of the project programme from construction through to completion.
Working closely with the Project Director and wider delivery team, you will provide strategic planning leadership, ensuring robust programme management, effective reporting and proactive risk mitigation throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning function on a £500m+ Life Sciences development from site.
- Develop, maintain and manage the integrated project programme using Primavera P6 (preferred), although candidates with strong ASTA Powerproject experience will also be considered.
- Provide strategic planning advice to the project leadership team, identifying programme risks, opportunities and mitigation strategies.
- Produce regular progress updates, programme analysis, reporting and forecasts for internal and client stakeholders.
- Lead programme review meetings and challenge construction methodologies to ensure the most efficient delivery strategy is achieved.
- Coordinate planning activities across all project disciplines, including subcontractors and key stakeholders.
- Support change management, delay analysis and programme recovery where required.
- Drive best practice in planning, controls and reporting across the project team.

- Proven experience as a Planning Manager or Senior Planner delivering major construction projects for a Tier 1 or leading main contractor.
- Previous experience working on complex projects such as Life Sciences, Healthcare, Commercial, Data Centres, Advanced Manufacturing or other technically challenging developments.
- Strong programme management and project controls experience throughout the construction phase.
- Proficient in Primavera P6, although applicants with extensive ASTA Powerproject experience are encouraged to apply.
- Excellent understanding of construction sequencing, logistics and project delivery.
- Experience producing client-facing reports, progress updates and programme presentations.
- HNC, HND or Degree qualified in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or a related discipline, with CIOB membership advantageous.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence project teams and senior stakeholders.
