Tech Connect Group have partnered with an automotive engineering business based in Worksop, in their search for a Planning & Materials Manager.
The Role
The role of the Planning & Materials Manager is to co-ordinate the plans required to achieve the completion of product builds and, where possible, exceed customer commitments and expectations. To own, strategise and optimise the total material flow lifecycle from inbound goods storage, work in progress and goods distribution, ensuring all quality standards and expectations are achieved.
Operating in the manufacturing sector, they are an expanding business that combines traditional values with cutting-edge innovation. This role is based on a 5-day working week, with flexibility on how the 40-hour work week is spread.

Key Responsibilities
- Own the full material lifecycle, from inbound receipt and WIP storage to final distribution, maintaining system and physical stock accuracy through cycle counts and obsolescence control.
- Build and maintain achievable build schedules alongside Production, Quality, and Procurement, actively monitoring lead times and safety stock to prevent line stoppages and hit customer commitments.
- Lead, coach, and mentor the Planning and Stores teams, managing resource allocation, employee relations, performance reviews, and daily workload priorities.
- Partner closely with Procurement and external suppliers to resolve delivery delays, address packaging issues, and fix BOM/pick-list discrepancies.
- Champion workplace Health, Safety, and Environmental standards (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001), ensuring strict adherence to procedures and prompt investigation of incidents or near-misses.
- Drive operational efficiency using Lean methodologies (5S, Kaizen, 8D, root-cause analysis) to reduce waste, solve recurring issues, and improve supplier KPI performance.

Key Skills & Experience
- Previous experience of working in a similar role (min 3 years)
- Experience of working within a material control / handling role
- Experience of using Dynamics 365 would be highly advantageous
- Working knowledge of a Stores / Stock Control environment
- Proficient in Outlook, Word, Excel
