About Us
The Royal Ballet and Opera continues to lead the way in opera, ballet, music, and dance both live on stage and through multiple digital platforms, from live streaming to worldwide cinema screenings. Our Covent Garden theatre has been at the heart of London and British cultural life for three centuries. We are home to two world-class Companies: The Royal Ballet and The Royal Opera.
The Royal Opera House describes the place we work, not who we are. The whole is always more than the sum of its parts – we may be a House, but three quarters of our audiences experience what we do outside this building. While our Covent Garden theatre is the nerve centre, the impact and influence of the organisation can be felt in every corner of the country, and around the world.
Our Planning Team
Our Planning team are responsible for the schedule of the RBO, ensuring the performance programme is agreed and can work logistically several years in advance as well as that information promoted for each season is accurate and up to date. They are also responsible for the use of all RBO spaces, working closely with internal teams to plan Front of House events for all departments.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Planning, this role will help deliver a building schedule that optimises our resources and will work to troubleshoot problems and come up with practical solutions. With the specific responsibility of handling the schedule up to 18 months in advance, they will chair organisation wide meetings, keep meticulous records on our planning system DIESE, and be the first point of contact for all requests for internal bookings.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
