Job Introduction
An opportunity is available for a Planning Team Leader based at our Alfreton Depot, covering Chesterfield & Mansfield area.
Reporting to the Operations Manager you will supervise a group of Planners and Admin Assistants. Your role is to ensure work is scheduled and delivered efficiently, and carried out safely and in line with H&S requirements.
You will be responsible for the effective performance of your team, driving performance improvement through individual 1:1s, leading the team’s productivity and delivering excellent customer service. As a Team Leader, you will lead by example and prioritise building strong relationships, trust and a supportive working environment for your team.
Working closely with colleagues across the Field Operations teams to support the wider business with work volumes & customer service is essential to ensure success in this role.
The starting salary will be £45,492 moving to £49,369 on completion of training.

Main Responsibilities
- The effective performance of your team, driving performance and productivity improvement through individual 1:1s
- Monitor Connection dashboards; including BMCS Time to Connect, Time to Quote, GS & KPIs
- Support the Planning Operations Manager and lead your team to ensure full compliance of H&S policy
- Coordinate programmes of work to ensure the productivity of Planners & Field based teams
- Monitor efficiency & finances of small projects and project closure process
- Approve customer refunds on SSA / SSB enquiries within financial authorisation limits
- Review / approve contractor invoices in crown for SSA / SSB projects
- Support team with Quotation and Delivery issues
- Ensure work is carried out in line with policy & operating procedures
- Ensure our people have the appropriate training and work authorisations to support a safe and productive working environment
- Respond quickly and professionally to customer complaints

Ideal Candidate
We are looking for an excellent communicator, who is organised and has the ability to problem solve and plan ahead.
With proven experience dealing with finance and meeting targets, we’re looking for someone who has a proven track record of managing teams, and is experienced in being an escalation point for both internal and external stakeholders.
What You’ll Need
- A good understanding of Health & Safety Legislation and Electricity Safety/Quality & Continuity regulations, or the ability/willingness to quickly develop this
- A willingness and ability to understand NGED planning & design policies
- An understanding of the distribution business or the ability/willingness to quickly develop this
- The demonstrable ability to effectively lead and drive performance
- Some Commercial and Financial awareness
- A full, valid UK/EU driving licence is required for this role
