Plant Engineer – Erith
Location: Erith
Working Hours: 07:30 – 16:00
Contractual Hours: 40 hours per week

We have an exciting opportunity for a Plant Engineer to join our team in Erith.
This is a hands-on engineering role with responsibility for the inspection, testing, maintenance and repair of plant and hire equipment, ensuring all equipment is maintained to a high standard and that work is completed safely and in line with Speedy’s safety requirements.
We’re particularly interested in candidates with a strong mechanical background and practical experience repairing small engines and mechanical equipment. Previous experience within the plant hire industry would be beneficial, but we’re also keen to hear from mechanically skilled candidates from similar engineering environments.
What you’ll be doing
On a day-to-day basis, you’ll work alongside other Engineers within the depot, carrying out servicing, fault finding, repairs and preventative maintenance across our equipment.
You’ll also work closely with our Drivers and Hire Desk team to ensure equipment repairs and maintenance are prioritised effectively, helping us keep our fleet safe, reliable and available for our customers.

What you’ll need
- A strong mechanical engineering background
- Practical experience of small engine repairs, servicing and fault finding
- Proven ability to maintain and repair mechanical or plant equipment to a high standard
- Previous experience within the plant hire industry or a similar engineering environment would be advantageous
- NVQ Level 2, City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline is desirable
- A practical, hands-on approach to diagnosing and resolving faults
- A flexible and collaborative approach to supporting the wider depot team
- Ability to support your business unit and team in delivering our ESG Strategy – Decade to Deliver
