The Role

We are currently recruiting for a Plant Engineer (Electrical) within our Hot Rolled Products department. Within the role, you will support the Section Engineer with the coordination of the area’s engineering activities and implementation of appropriate engineering standards to drive continuously improving manufacturing performance, to deliver our Annual Plan. The incumbent of the role will continuously develop and implement a cost-effective preventative maintenance regime in line with the maintenance strategy for the Works Area.

You will support and drive the failure analysis processes and ensure that all engineering activities are carried out in line with the standards and strategy for the Works Area (e.g. management of spares, management of contractors, budget management, engineering standards & procedures)


What we’re looking for?

As an Plant Engineer (Electrical), you’ll hold solid experience in fast paced heavy industrial manufacturing activities. You will be qualified to a minimum HNC and ideally HND/Degree level. You’ll hold a demonstrable background of an electrical engineering discipline, continuous improvement processes, preventative maintenance techniques, planning and implementing maintenance stops, reacting to faults & breakdowns and dealing with contractors.

As part of the role, you will showcase good working knowledge and experience in:

  • AC & DC electrical drives
  • Electrical power distribution networks up to 11kV
  • PLCs (fault finding and programming) - GEM 80 / Siemens S7 / Allen Bradley
  • Electrical fault finding and repair
  • Reading circuitry schematics
  • 18th Edition wiring regs
  • Compliance Topics such as DSEAR, PUWER & COSHH
  • RA/SWP’s.
  • I&I Techniques and practises.

We require applicants to have the ability to demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills and be computer literate. The ability to work without close supervision, yet under pressure and to tight timescales is essential.
