About The Role
Location: Derby (with occasional travel to operational sites)
We are looking for a Plant Fitter to join our Overhead Line (OHL) team based in Derby. Working primarily from our large plant workshop, you'll play a key role in ensuring specialist plant and equipment is maintained, serviced and repaired to the highest standards, helping keep critical projects moving safely and efficiently.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced plant fitter or mechanical technician looking to work on specialist equipment within a supportive and safety-focused environment.
What you'll be doing
- Service, maintain and repair specialist overhead line plant and equipment.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults.
- Read and interpret hydraulic schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Complete maintenance records and documentation accurately using electronic systems.
- Manage spare parts and stock requests to support maintenance activities.
- Maintain high housekeeping standards within the workshop and work areas.
- Support operational teams on-site when required.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with relevant legislation, company procedures and environmental standards.
- Participate in paid overtime, including occasional weekends, as required.
Who we're looking for
- Experience working in a plant maintenance, heavy equipment, workshop or engineering environment.
- Strong knowledge of diesel-powered plant, hydraulic systems and electrical systems.
- Ability to fault-find and diagnose equipment issues.
- Mechanical or electrical apprenticeship, or a recognised engineering qualification.
- Ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics.
- Good IT skills, including experience using Microsoft Office and electronic maintenance records.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to health, safety and quality standards.

Desirable
- Experience maintaining specialist plant used within the overhead line or utilities sector.
- Forklift and/or telehandler certification.
- IOSH or other health and safety qualification.
- EUSR SHEA Power accreditation.
- Experience supporting operational projects and site-based activities.
