Plant Hire Supervisor

The Plant Hire Supervisor will manage the day-to-day control of the company’s owned plant, tools and equipment, ensuring assets are safely maintained, accurately tracked and available to support project delivery. This includes overseeing equipment bookings and returns, coordinating servicing and inspections, monitoring usage and costs, and maintaining an organised storage area. Working closely with site teams and service providers, you’ll anticipate equipment requirements, minimise downtime and ensure all plant is compliant and ready for use.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate asset records, tagging and location tracking, using GPS where available.
• Manage equipment bookings, dispatch and returns, completing inspections and supporting documentation.
• Monitor plant usage, follow up overdue returns and provide weekly reports on location, availability and costs.
• Coordinate servicing, repairs and statutory inspections, keeping records up to date and minimising downtime.
• Record damage or misuse and arrange repairs, cleaning and preparation before equipment is reissued.
• Maintain a safe, organised storage area, separating returned equipment, items awaiting servicing and ready-to-use assets.
• Ensure equipment meets relevant compliance requirements, including LOLER and PUWER, and uphold health and safety standards.
• Liaise with site teams and contractors to plan equipment requirements and improve plant management processes.
