Role Description

The Plant Maintenance Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Widnes, overseeing the maintenance and reliability of construction plant and equipment and also LGV. This position is responsible for planning and coordinating preventive and reactive maintenance, scheduling inspections, and ensuring machinery is safe, compliant, and available for project needs.

  • Diagnosing equipment issues
  • Organizing repairs
  • Managing maintenance records
  • Working closely with site teams to minimize downtime
  • Supervising maintenance personnel and external contractors
  • Monitoring parts and consumables
  • Implementing improvements to maintenance processes and standards
  • Supporting health and safety practices on site
  • Contributing to continuous improvement in equipment performance

Qualifications

  • Strong maintenance management skills, including Maintenance Management and Preventive Maintenance, with experience overseeing plant maintenance programs.
  • Hands-on technical expertise in Equipment Maintenance and Maintenance & Repair for construction plant, tools, and associated machinery.
  • Demonstrated Supervisory Skills, with the ability to lead maintenance teams, coordinate workloads, and work effectively with site and project staff.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to construction plant operations and safe systems of work.
  • Experience in construction or civil engineering environments, preferably in plant or fleet maintenance.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and record-keeping for maintenance documentation.
  • Relevant vocational qualifications or certifications in mechanical engineering, plant maintenance, or a related field are beneficial.
  • Ability to work on-site in Widnes and respond flexibly to operational needs and project schedules.
