Plant Manager

Based in Telford, Shropshire

Job Purpose

As a Plant Manager you will assume overall oversight, and responsibility for the site operations to ensure the achievement of operational targets. The role leads 24/7 manufacturing across two proximate sites for blown film extrusion & converting, Aluminum foil and cling-film rewinding, and translating business plans into disciplined daily execution.

As the senior site leader, the Plant Manager develops the leadership team and creates a culture of ownership, continuous improvement and constructive employee engagement. He/She acts as the senior representative at the Telford site and owns the site's performance-management rhythm. The role is accountable for delivering, within the approved operating and capital budgets.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with applicable health, safety and environmental legislation, permits, risk assessments, contractor controls, and Cedo standards.
  • Set clear standards for safe behaviour and visible leadership; ensure hazards, near misses and incidents are reported, investigated and acted upon promptly.
  • Maintain effective systems for product safety, traceability and audit readiness, including applicable customer and regulatory standards.
  • Lead daily and weekly performance reviews for the site through structured tier meetings and timely countermeasures.
  • Improve Plant OEE, throughput, material yield and manpower productivity through stable processes, good engineering standards and disciplined loss analysis to reduce overall cost of goods sold.
  • Drive flexible automation, digitalisation to increase productivity particularly on End of Line manual intensive activities.
  • Increase the pace of execution of key projects driving cross-functional collaboration and instilling a “can do” culture.
  • Create constructive two-way communication with employees and representatives, strengthening engagement, problem solving and ownership at every level.
  • Contribute to Group initiatives, share and implement good practice with/from other Cedo sites.
  • Drive supply chain excellence, to reduce the cost to serve, optimising warehousing and logistic process.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Demonstrable 5+ years of operations management experience preferably within a high volume manufacturing or plastic processing environment (extrusion, injection molding etc.) supplying own brand products to customers.
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Understanding of supply chain processes particularly on warehousing & logistics.
  • Proven track record in improving operational efficiencies in an industrial set-up.
