Plant Manager – Ely, Cambridgeshire

Build the factory of the future at DwyerOmega’s European Centre of Excellence.

We are looking for an exceptional Plant Manager to lead the performance and transformation of our manufacturing site in Ely.

This is an opportunity for a world-class manufacturing leader to take full ownership of a strategically important operation. You will deliver outstanding Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People performance while creating a leaner, smarter and increasingly automated manufacturing environment.

This role goes far beyond running today’s factory. You will shape its future by combining Lean Manufacturing, operational excellence, manufacturing engineering, automation, digital technology, data and practical applications of AI.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the VP Operations EMEA, you will:

  • Lead all site manufacturing operations, with full accountability for operational and financial performance
  • Deliver revenue, EBITDA, productivity, cost, quality, safety, delivery and working-capital objectives
  • Establish Lean Manufacturing as the site’s operating system, supported by disciplined daily management and structured problem-solving
  • Develop and deliver roadmaps for operational excellence, Industry 4.0, smart manufacturing and automation
  • Improve OEE, manufacturing flow, equipment reliability, schedule adherence and customer performance
  • Identify high-value opportunities for robotics, machine vision, predictive maintenance, advanced analytics and AI-enabled manufacturing
  • Build compelling business cases for technology and capital investment, delivering measurable operational and financial returns
  • Develop an outstanding leadership team and create a culture of ownership, accountability, innovation and continuous improvement

What You Will Bring

You will be an inspirational and commercially astute manufacturing leader with:

  • Significant experience leading a manufacturing site with responsibility for operational and financial results
  • A strong track record of leading Lean Manufacturing or operational-excellence transformation
  • Deep practical knowledge of Daily Management, Standard Work, Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Kaizen, SMED, TPM and structured problem-solving
  • Evidence of improving OEE, productivity, quality, cost and manufacturing flow
  • Experience introducing or significantly advancing automation, MES, connected manufacturing systems or other Industry 4.0 technologies
  • The ability to translate technology and capital investment into measurable business value
  • Strong people leadership, change-management and organisational-development capability
  • Exposure to AI, machine learning or advanced manufacturing analytics would be highly advantageous
