We are currently looking for a Plant Area Manager to join our large Garden Centre Group. Previous experience as a Plant Manager within the industry is preferred, however, applicants with a proven plant management background with a knowledge of plants will be considered.
Working in the plant area is a high volume environment with a fast turnaround. The successful candidate should be physically fit as this is a very hands on role.
A good knowledge of plants is essential to the role as is good customer service and a high standard of visual merchandising.
The successful candidate will preferably possess either a horticultural qualification, will be in training or had practical horticultural experience. Forklift truck licence an advantage.

Duties Include
- Managing section people resources
- Forward planning of work schedule
- Daily resource management to support effective customer service requirements.
- Deployment of the team to deliver excellent plant standards.
- Responsible for leading a team.
- Operational Audit for compliance in those areas
- Key holder responsibilities to assist with opening and closing of the centres.
- Holiday cover
- Ensuring department compliance and health and safety regulations are carried out
- Positive and strong communicator and a skilled motivational people manager.
- Accountable for providing great customer service and have a keen eye for quality and detail
- Ordering / Plant standards
Required Criteria
- Good practical knowledge of plants and plant care
- Previous experience of leading or managing a team
- Experience working in a fast-paced retail environment
- Strong organisational skills
- Commercial awareness with an understanding of sales, stock management and high retail standards
- Flexible approach to working hours including weekends and bank holidays
- Physically able to undertake a hands-on role in an outdoor environment
