Job Description: Plant Manager at Equans
Equans is a renowned energies & services contractor and a proud member of the Bouygues global industrial group. Our expertise spans the design, construction, and maintenance of buildings and critical infrastructure worldwide. We have a great opportunity within Equans Embedded Energy for a Plant Manager to oversee the safe and efficient operation of the Fellside CHP plant.

Equans Embedded Energy operates multiple customer sites with large-scale embedded energy capacity across the UK, providing specialist management of onsite generation for industrial processes and the ability to export to the Grid. We combine multiple technologies to meet our customers’ specific needs, and provide design, build, operate, and maintenance services. Our skills and expertise can help industrial businesses to achieve their carbon reduction goals.
We are experts in many technologies, including combined heat and power (CHP), biomass, and energy from waste. By locating generation on customers’ sites we provide our customers with industry-leading safety management, reduced energy costs and carbon footprint, and assured energy security for their operational needs.
Key Activities
- Build, maintain, and manage effective and timely client relationships balancing and delivering client requirements to ensure safe, efficient asset running and excellent & adaptable customer/client service.
- In line with onsite requirements, have overall responsibility for the safe and effective running of the Fellside plant, ensuring all SHE, legislative, and business requirements are met and maintained.
- Lead, manage, and engage the Fellside management team and other assigned personnel, taking overall responsibility for their supervision, development, welfare, and overall effectiveness.
- Develop, lead, communicate, and deliver the Fellside plant AOP and business plan.
- Develop, lead, and deliver the Fellside plant philosophy, procedures, and systems, to enable the achievement of required performance measures and statutory and management reporting. Ensure their effective communication, understanding, and monitoring by all relevant employees.
- Work effectively and positively with all Fellside employees, customers, clients, contractors, and external authorities, to both promote the Fellside business and deliver site and client requirements.
- Overall responsibility for effective planning, justification, and control of site financial and budget management.
- Remain fully conversant with all plant commercial operations and markets.
- Develop, maintain, and actively participate in civic, neighborhood, industrial, and government activities, promoting positive public and business relationships.
- As required, provide out-of-hours and emergency call-out support.
- Actively improve self and others by developing new and enhancing existing skills and knowledge.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in an engineering discipline
- IOSH or equivalent safety qualification
- Plant Management experience in a 24/7 process at department head level.
- Identifying and managing engineering risk.
- Fundamental knowledge of Electrical engineering compliance & legislation. ATEX, DSEAR, etc.
- Understanding and driving the department for Key Performance Indicators as set with the working contract.
- Plant SHE procedures & documentation including PTW systems, confined space entry requirements.
- Working knowledge of Quality management systems.
- Budgetary management & control.
