Plant Operations & UK Logistics Finance Business Partner

Peterborough area | Hybrid Working | Salary: Confidential

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Finance Business Partner to join a highly established, international manufacturing business, supporting both a major UK manufacturing operation and the wider UK Logistics function.

This is a high-profile, commercially focused role, partnering directly with senior operational leadership and playing a key role in driving financial performance, cost optimisation and continuous improvement across the operation.

The Role

As Plant Operations & UK Logistics Finance Business Partner, you will work closely with senior operational leaders, providing financial insight, challenge and strategic guidance across manufacturing, engineering, planning, logistics and distribution.

You will have significant ownership across the "Make" and "Deliver" cost areas, with responsibility for understanding performance, identifying opportunities and influencing operational decision-making.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing strategic Finance Business Partnering to senior operational stakeholders across Manufacturing and Logistics.
  • Taking ownership of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, LTP and monthly reporting.
  • Providing detailed analysis of operational performance, costs, risks and opportunities.
  • Driving initiatives around Yield, SLOB, productivity and continuous improvement.
  • Supporting manufacturing and logistics cost optimisation, ensuring high service levels at the lowest sustainable cost.
  • Providing financial input into transformational and continuous improvement projects.
  • Supporting Capex investment proposals, including financial analysis and post-implementation reviews.
  • Challenging and supporting productivity, CCI, cost and headcount targets.
  • Leading monthly business reviews, deep dives and analysis of key financial and operational drivers.
  • Ensuring robust financial controls, SOX compliance and adherence to policies and processes.
  • Working cross-functionally to identify opportunities, influence decisions and improve overall business performance.

About You

We are looking for a qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA or equivalent) with strong commercial Finance Business Partnering experience, ideally gained within a manufacturing, Supply Chain or Logistics environment.

You will ideally bring:

  • Proven experience partnering with senior operational stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing and/or Supply Chain Finance.
  • Experience across budgeting, forecasting, P&L management and performance analysis.
  • Good knowledge of cost accounting / ABC costing.
  • Understanding of S&OP and wider Supply Chain processes.
  • Experience supporting projects, Capex investment and business transformation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn financial data into actionable insight.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Experience working within a matrix organisation and across multiple functions.
  • Strong Excel skills; experience of TM1 and Business Warehouse would be advantageous.
  • SAP experience would also be desirable.
