Role Description
The Plant Operator is a full-time, on-site role based in London, responsible for the safe and efficient operation of waste management plant and machinery. Day-to-day tasks include:
- Operating plant equipment and machinery to process, sort, and transfer waste and recyclables
- Monitoring performance to ensure effective throughput and minimal downtime
- Conducting routine inspections, basic maintenance, and reporting any defects or safety concerns
- Supporting quality control by checking materials against operational standards
- Managing forklifts and other material-handling equipment
- Following health, safety, and environmental procedures
- Assisting the wider operations team with loading, unloading, and site housekeeping
Collaboration with supervisors and colleagues to meet operational targets and maintain a clean, organized working environment is a key part of this position.

Qualifications
- Skills in plant operations, including safe and efficient Plant Operations and Machine Operation
- Skills in equipment care, including basic Maintenance and Forklift Operation
- Skills in Quality Control to ensure processed materials meet regulatory and company standards
- Relevant experience in waste management, recycling, construction, or industrial operations is beneficial
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations, with the ability to follow established procedures and use PPE appropriately
- Ability to work in a physically active role, including manual handling, outdoor work, and shift-based operations as required
- Strong communication skills, reliability, and the ability to work as part of a diverse team
- Valid forklift or plant operation certifications and a full UK driving licence are advantageous
