Plant Operator
An exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced Plant Operators to join a leading operator of a modern, highly automated industrial process facility.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a stable organisation operating critical infrastructure, where safety, operational excellence and continuous improvement are at the heart of the business.
Working within a close-knit operations team, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the plant, monitoring process performance, responding to changing operating conditions and helping to maximise plant availability.
The Role
Reporting to the Shift Team Leader, your responsibilities will include:
- Operating and monitoring boiler and associated process plant to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Controlling plant performance using a Distributed Control System (DCS).
- Monitoring temperatures, pressures, flows and other critical operating parameters, taking corrective action where required.
- Responding to alarms, faults, process deviations and changing plant conditions.
- Recording plant readings and maintaining accurate shift logs.
- Coordinating incoming materials and supporting efficient plant operation.
- Carrying out routine plant inspections and maintaining high housekeeping standards.
- Operating overhead cranes, mobile plant or FLTs where appropriately trained.
- Assisting with planned shutdowns and responding to operational issues.
- Working safely in accordance with Permit to Work systems, safe systems of work and company procedures.
- Supporting the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance at all times.

About You
You will ideally have experience of:
- Boiler or steam plant operations
- DCS or SCADA control systems
- Process monitoring and fault finding
- Continuous process operations
- Working within a safety-critical environment
- Permit to Work systems
- Responding to plant alarms and operational issues
The following would be advantageous but are not essential:
- Mechanical, Electrical, Process or Instrumentation apprenticeship
- BOAS or equivalent boiler qualification
- City & Guilds Thermal Plant qualification
- FLT licence
- COSHH and HAZOP awareness

Salary & Benefits
- £39,779 - £43,791
- Permanent, full-time position
- 42-hour average working week
- 28-day continental shift pattern comprising 14 x 12-hour shifts, meaning you'll work just 14 days out of every 28-day cycle
