Job Summary
As a Plasma Healthcare Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in saving and improving lives by supporting the collection of plasma and other blood products used to help patients across the UK. You’ll guide donors through every stage of their donation journey, from welcoming them and carrying out pre-donation checks to monitoring their wellbeing and ensuring a positive experience. You’ll receive training to develop specialist healthcare skills, including venepuncture, while working as part of a supportive team focused on donor safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Every donation you help collect contributes to the supply of life-saving medicines, giving your work real purpose and impact.
Main duties of the job
- Make a meaningful contribution to patient care by supporting the safe collection of plasma and other blood products that help save and improve lives.
- Deliver a caring and professional donor experience, building positive relationships and supporting donors throughout their donation journey.
- Learn and develop specialist healthcare skills, including venepuncture, while following clinical, regulatory, and quality standards.
- Monitor donor wellbeing, respond appropriately to concerns, and escalate issues to help maintain a safe donation environment.
- Ensure equipment, records, and collected products meet required quality and safety standards for onward processing and distribution.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to promote safe working practices, share knowledge, and support the development of team members.
- Help improve donor retention by encouraging future appointments and delivering an experience that donors want to return to.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, inclusivity, and excellence by sharing feedback and supporting positive change.
About You
Experience and Knowledge
- Experience of dealing with the public and putting the customer first
- Experience of dealing with sensitive or confidential matters and an understanding of how this applies to the role
- Experience of delivering a quality customer service
Qualifications And Training
- Ability to follow written instructions, to develop a good underpinning knowledge relating to practical skills, for which you will receive training and ongoing assessment
- Willing to undertake further skill development for self and for supporting the training and induction of new team members, where required

If you are shortlisted for this role, you will need to attend in person for a collection session tour so we can provide you with more in-depth understanding of this role. This will be followed by a face-to-face interview. We are unable to arrange virtual interviews or tours. Please also note that our travel policy does not allow for the payment of travel expenses.
The assessment process for this role will include: a session visit and an interview. Interviews are anticipated to be held on 24th September 2026 – subject to confirmation.
