This is a rare opportunity to work within a team responsible for maintaining and improving more than 40km of private rail infrastructure across our South Wales sites. Whether you already have rail experience or come from a mechanical, engineering, construction or maintenance background, we'd like to hear from you.

Training and development can be provided depending on your existing skills and experience, making this an excellent opportunity to develop a career within rail infrastructure.

The role is primarily based on a Monday to Friday day shift pattern, offering an excellent work-life balance. Flexibility is required, as the team also supports emergency and unplanned rail events which may occasionally require out-of-hours working.

  • 39 hours per week

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out permanent way maintenance and renewal activities
  • Inspecting and maintaining track infrastructure to required standards
  • Using hand tools, power tools and plant equipment (where trained and authorised)
  • Undertaking lookout and flagman duties when required
  • Completing work records, permits and safety documentation
  • Supporting safe systems of work, including risk assessments and work planning
  • Leading or assisting small work teams as required
  • Liaising with operational and engineering teams to complete work safely and efficiently
  • Identifying opportunities to improve safety, reliability and performance

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
