Platform and Automation Engineer
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Platform and Automation Engineer based in United Kingdom.
This role offers the opportunity to build and optimize the internal technology ecosystem that powers a globally distributed organization.
You will design scalable automation solutions, integrate business-critical SaaS platforms, and improve operational efficiency through engineering-first practices.
The position combines platform engineering, systems integration, software development, and IT automation in a highly collaborative environment.
You will play a key role in streamlining internal workflows, introducing AI-driven solutions, and strengthening security and compliance across business systems.
Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will create reliable, developer-friendly tools that enhance the employee experience and support business growth.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex operational challenges through automation and modern technologies.
Accountabilities
As a Platform and Automation Engineer, you will:
- Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of internal platforms, automation workflows, and business system integrations.
- Administer, optimize, and integrate business-critical SaaS platforms, including CRM, customer support, billing, collaboration, and engineering tools.
- Design and develop automation scripts, internal services, CLI tools, and event-driven workflows using modern programming languages and APIs.
- Build and maintain reliable integrations between internal business systems to automate data synchronization, user provisioning, and operational processes.
- Develop internal tools that improve onboarding, access management, business operations, collaboration, and employee productivity.
- Identify opportunities to introduce AI-powered solutions, including intelligent assistants, workflow automation, knowledge retrieval, and operational analytics.
- Design automated onboarding, offboarding, identity management, and self-service workflows that simplify internal IT processes.
- Provide advanced technical support for complex IT issues while focusing on root-cause analysis and long-term process improvements.
- Implement and maintain security controls, identity management, endpoint protection, and compliance processes aligned with industry standards.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to continuously improve business systems, operational efficiency, and the overall employee technology experience.

Requirements:
- The ideal candidate brings extensive platform engineering experience, strong software development skills, and a passion for automation, security, and operational excellence.
- 8+ years of experience in IT Engineering, Platform Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Business Systems Engineering, including senior-level ownership of internal platforms and automation.
- Strong programming and scripting skills using languages such as Python, Go, Bash, or similar technologies.
- Experience administering and integrating business-critical SaaS platforms, including CRM, customer support, billing, collaboration, and engineering tools.
- Solid knowledge of cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS and GCP environments, networking, identity management, and infrastructure services.
- Strong experience designing API-driven integrations using REST, GraphQL, OAuth, webhooks, and SaaS SDKs.
- Deep understanding of macOS and Linux environments.
- Experience implementing identity lifecycle management, SSO, SAML, SCIM provisioning, Zero Trust principles, and access management.
- Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, and GDPR.
- Experience working successfully within remote-first or globally distributed organizations.
- Familiarity with AI-driven automation, container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes, and Site Reliability Engineering practices is considered an advantage.
- Strong analytical thinking, communication skills, ownership mindset, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
