The Platform and Solutions Product Manager will work with their Product Management colleagues to translate product vision, customer requirements and business objectives into scalable, secure and commercially viable software solutions. Acting as the bridge between Product Management, Development/Architecture, Engineering and Customer-facing teams, the role ensures that the solutions and capabilities we sell support strategic goals while maintaining technical excellence, innovation and operational resilience.
Key Responsibilities
This role is intended to facilitate and drive effective collaboration between teams to ensure capabilities and solutions are successfully bought into service, providing architectural leadership across the Control Room portfolio, guiding technical design decisions, defining standards and helping engineering teams deliver secure, high-quality solutions that meet business, customer and market needs.

- Responsible for solution designs and technical specifications for new features and products.
- Supporting short/mid/long term technology roadmap development and technical investment planning.
- Supporting Product Management with Non-Functional requirements definition and prioritisation for capabilities and solutions including security, availability, performance, maintainability and scalability.
- For in-service products, ensuring the ongoing Non-Functional roadmaps (including support for 3rd party products) are regularly reviewed and appropriately prioritised.
- Working with Engineering teams to ensure capabilities and solutions align with technology strategy, recognising that many customer deployments involve multiple NEC products & capabilities (inc. 3rd parties where appropriate).
- Evaluate solution architectural trade-offs and recommend optimal approaches balancing cost, risk, scalability and delivery timelines.
- Work with customers and partners to understand technical requirements and operational challenges.
- Provide technical leadership during customer workshops, bid responses and solution demonstrations.
- Communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
