Welcome to KTO Group

Welcome to KTO Group, where innovation drives excitement in iGaming. Founded in 2018 by Andreas Bardun, we’re transforming online gaming with a focus on transparency and player satisfaction.

At KTO.com, we blend the thrill of sports betting with online casino entertainment, tailored to local markets and powered by our proprietary platform for a seamless, personalized experience.

KTO is a rising leader in LATAM, proudly ranked among Brazil’s top 10 iGaming brands. Join us as we set new standards in trust, innovation, and the future of iGaming.

We are investing in the next generation of our platform

We are investing in the next generation of our platform: a new real-time, event-driven foundation that will change how KTO understands and serves its players. This role is its first dedicated hire — the Platform Architect who lays the foundation everything else will be built on.

Most of what happens on a sportsbook and casino is understood after the fact. We want to change that. We are building an event-driven platform that captures what is happening across our products as it happens, and a decision layer on top of it that lets KTO respond to players in real time.

This is not a maintenance role and it is not a seat on an existing team. You are engineer #1 on a foundation-level project with executive sponsorship. You work in a tight loop with the project lead and you own the technical architecture end to end. You stay hands-on all the way to production. You're expected to move fast, including by pairing heavily with AI tools for day-to-day engineering work — this isn't a nice-to-have here, it's how the early build actually happens with a team this size.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Key responsibilities

  • Define the event contracts that our backend and frontend teams must produce to, and every downstream consumer will depend on. Build the ingestion edge that enforces them and adapts existing events into line.
  • Own the stream-processing and low-latency state layer that turns raw events into real-time signals.
  • Design and ship the rules/decisioning layer that turns those signals into actions — fast, explainable and safe.
  • Define delivery guarantees, versioning, replay strategy, and privacy-by-design for the event platform, given Brazil's regulatory environment.
  • Learn the business deeply enough to be able to scope the first production use case, then take it end to end — from idea, through architecture, to a live system — documenting the pattern other engineers will follow after.
  • Translate business requirements from the project lead into technical design, present architecture trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders, and manage competing priorities as they come up.
  • Set the initial technical standards (code, review, on-call, incident process) this effort runs on.
  • Build measurement from day one: every decision logged with the facts it used, a permanent hold-back group, and the ability to replay any rule against history. The platform must be able to prove its own value, not just act.

Main Requirements

  • Fluent English, with strong written and verbal communication — you'll work directly with senior leadership.
  • Real-time systems architecture knowledge — non-negotiable.
  • Production experience building and operating event-driven systems (Kafka or similar), including debugging and fixing real incidents.
  • Experience owning schema and data contracts as long-lived interfaces other teams depend on.
  • Hands-on experience with stream processing and low-latency state: out-of-order events, exactly-once delivery, cancellable timers.
  • Experience building or integrating rules, decisioning, or real-time personalisation systems.
  • Track record of making architecture decisions under uncertainty.
  • Curiosity and a self-starter mindset.

Nice to have

  • Experience in iGaming, payments, fintech, or another regulated, high-volume consumer domain.
  • Experience being engineer #1 on a platform effort — knowing what to build now versus later.
  • Familiarity with frontend event instrumentation and client-side telemetry.
