About this Role

Location: Newbury or Paddington (hybrid)

We are seeking a Platform Architect to provide architectural leadership, domain expertise and solution guidance across one or more telecommunications or digital platform domains, including Product Catalogue, CRM, Order Management, Provisioning, Mediation, Billing, Charging, Partner Management, Identity or Customer Care.

This role works closely with Product Owners, Technical Leads, Lead AI Software Engineers, engineers and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable, secure and reusable solution architectures. The successful candidate will act as the architecture authority within assigned domains, supporting multiple squads to deliver cloud-native, API-first and operationally effective platform capabilities whilst ensuring consistency with broader platform architecture principles and standards.


What you’ll do

  • Provide architectural leadership and domain expertise across one or more platform domains.
  • Support multiple engineering squads with solution design, architecture guidance and implementation decision-making.
  • Define solution architectures, domain models and architecture artefacts for assigned platform capabilities.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable, secure, maintainable and reusable solution designs.
  • Produce architecture artefacts including solution designs, integration designs, domain models, API specifications and technical documentation.
  • Define APIs, integration patterns and architecture specifications that support platform reuse and long-term sustainability.
  • Ensure delivery teams align with architecture principles, engineering standards, design patterns and governance requirements.
  • Support Technical Leads and engineering teams in resolving complex business, integration and technology challenges.
  • Contribute to platform modernisation initiatives, architecture roadmaps and technology evolution activities.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify solutions, reduce technical debt and improve platform consistency.
  • Promote cloud-native, API-first and event-driven architecture approaches.
  • Participate in architecture governance forums, design reviews and technical assurance activities.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to ensure architecture intent is effectively implemented.
  • Champion AI-native and specification-driven engineering practices through reusable architecture guidance and high-quality artefacts.

Who you are

  • Significant experience, typically 8+ years, within solution architecture, platform architecture or complex software engineering environments.
  • Proven experience designing and delivering cloud-native, API-first and distributed systems.
  • Recognised Subject Matter Expert in at least one telecommunications or digital platform domain such as Product Catalogue, CRM, Customer Management, Order Management, Provisioning, Billing, Charging, Mediation, Partner Management, Identity, Customer Care or Service Fulfilment.
  • Strong expertise in solution architecture with the ability to translate business requirements into secure, scalable and maintainable designs.
  • Good understanding of platform operating models, domain-driven design, microservices, event-driven architectures and modern platform engineering practices.
  • Experience creating architecture artefacts including solution designs, domain models, integration designs, API specifications and architecture documentation.
  • Understanding of AI-native software delivery practices and specification-driven engineering approaches.
  • Experience supporting agile, product-led and platform-focused delivery organisations.
  • Knowledge of architecture governance frameworks, engineering standards and technology delivery practices.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate across business, product, engineering and architecture teams.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, platform modernisation and engineering effectiveness.
