Greetings

We are Hiring Data Platform Architect - Wokingham UK

3 days onsite

Hybrid

Need a strong Data Platform solution architect - Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Azure Event hub, data and solution architecture, first class communication and stakeholder skills. They will be based in Wokingham, UK, no scope for remote and long travels.

Key Responsibilities

Platform architecture & strategy

  • Own the end-to-end architecture of the Data Platform: the medallion lakehouse (Bronze/Silver/Gold), Unity Catalog governance model, federated workspace strategy, and Data Mesh publication process for Systems of Record (SoRs).
  • Set and evolve the platform's design principles, reference architectures and ways-of-working; author and maintain ARB-ready High-Level Design (HLD) documents.
  • Make and justify strategic technology decisions (build vs buy, tooling selection, integration patterns), defending platform coherence against competing or overlapping tools where appropriate.

Governance, security & compliance (CNI)

  • Ensure the platform meets CNI security requirements: private endpoints, VNet injection, network isolation, and Unity Catalog RBAC.
  • Own data governance across the estate — access management, classification, lineage and the controls that govern how classified datasets are consumed by internal teams and external platforms.
  • Act as a technical gatekeeper for data-sharing and integration requests, ensuring contractual, licensing and classification clearances are in place before data leaves the platform.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • Enable 10+ teams to self-serve safely: maintain reusable platform IP and accelerators (e.g. data quality frameworks, reference-data tooling, data discovery/explorer capabilities, MDM patterns, API wrappers).
  • Provide senior technical leadership and design assurance across ingestion, transformation, ML/MLOps (MLflow) and BI (Power BI gateway) workstreams.
  • Lead complex integration architectures (e.g. source-system migrations, third-party analytics platform integration via Delta Sharing / JDBC patterns, enterprise service integration).

FinOps & operations

  • Own cost governance and FinOps for the platform: forecasting, bottom-up cost-driver modelling across subscriptions, and commercial commitment (e.g. MACC) management.
  • Ensure platform reliability, observability and operational

Stakeholder leadership

  • Strong Azure data platform skills: ADLS Gen2, Azure Data Factory (ADF), networking (private endpoints, VNets), and Azure security/identity.
  • Proven ability to design and document architecture to a high standard (HLDs, reference architectures, design principles) and to steer decisions through formal governance (ARB or equivalent).
