AWS Platform Architect – Direct Connect / Hybrid Networking
£650 a day | Outside IR35 | Remote | 3 months initially, with likely extension
We’re looking for an AWS Platform Architect with genuinely deep AWS networking experience to join a major cloud-platform project for a well-known UK media company.
The initial three-month engagement will focus on designing and delivering a POC for a high-performance AWS platform. The wider solution will ultimately support cloud-based virtual workstations, shared storage and demanding media workflows, but the immediate priority is getting the underlying AWS networking and hybrid connectivity right.
This is not a general cloud or high-level advisory role. The client needs someone who has personally designed and delivered complex production AWS networks, particularly connecting facilities and data centres into AWS using Direct Connect.

As an AWS Platform Architect, you will bring:
- Deep hands-on AWS networking and platform architecture experience
- Production experience designing and delivering AWS Direct Connect
- Strong knowledge of BGP, private and transit VIFs and Direct Connect Gateway
- Transit Gateway, VPC routing and multi-account or multi-region networking
- Experience designing resilient connectivity, including diverse circuits, multiple providers, VPN backup and tested failover
- Strong understanding of network security, DNS, monitoring and routing controls
- Experience producing HLDs and LLDs and taking architecture through implementation
- Terraform, CloudFormation or wider infrastructure-as-code experience
- VDI, remote workstations, GPU compute, high-throughput storage or media experience would be a bonus
