Platform Architect – PaaS / Platform Services – London

A research focused technology organisation operating at significant scale is looking for a senior Platform Architect to help shape the platforms and services used across its engineering environment.

The role is focused on PaaS and platform services, covering areas such as developer platforms, containerised workloads, compute platforms, shared services, automation and the underlying technologies that allow engineering teams to build and deploy software at scale.

This isn't a purely high-level architecture or governance position. They’re looking for someone who has spent their career close to engineering, helping design and evolve complex platforms and making technical decisions around how those platforms should be built.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What you’ll need:

  • Significant experience as a Platform Architect, Principal Architect, Principal Engineer or similar senior technical role
  • Strong PaaS and platform services experience, ideally designing platforms used by large engineering or development populations
  • Experience across areas such as Kubernetes, container platforms, developer platforms, CI/CD, automation, IaC and shared platform services
  • Good understanding of the underlying IaaS layer, including compute, networking, storage, cloud and security
  • Experience operating in complex engineering environments rather than purely governance focused architecture functions
  • Broad technical judgement with the ability to work closely with engineering teams and make architectural decisions independently
  • Experience designing and evolving platforms at significant scale

Standout/relevant backgrounds:

  • Quantitative trading firms
  • Hedge funds
  • FinTech
  • Large scale technology organisations
  • Hyperscalers
  • Organisations running significant internal developer or application platforms

This would suit someone who has spent years building and designing platforms, remains technically close to engineering, and wants to continue solving complex platform problems rather than moving further into management.
