Platform Developer
MVNx Platform Developer
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled MVNx Platform Developer to join the Value Streams Engineering Team within Vodafone’s MVNx Platform Digital & IT function. This senior, platform-focused role involves designing, building, testing, and maintaining cloud-native software components that power secure, scalable, and globally high-performing MVNO capabilities.
Working within cross-functional, product-centric squads, the ideal candidate will deliver end-to-end digital experiences and customer journeys, employing modern engineering practices and agile delivery.
Key Responsibilities

Build and maintain high-quality, maintainable software across:
- Backend services
- APIs
- Data flows
- Integration layers
- Using cloud-native and event-driven design patterns

Continuously deliver value through iterative frameworks by:
- Collaborating with Technical Leads, Product Owners, and Delivery Leads to refine requirements, estimate work, and prioritise features
- Providing regular overlap between UX, product, business and technical outcomes

Write and ensure high-quality code for:
- Microservices
- Secure REST APIs
- Integration components

Uphold platform engineering standards while:
- Aligning new solutions with MVNx architecture guidelines
- Ensuring component reusability and longevity

Participate in technical governance and team processes:
- Conducting peer code reviews
- Engaging in technical design discussions
- Attending agile ceremonies including refinement, planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives

- Developing unit tests, integration testing, and contributing to continuous testing strategies
- Assisting in technical debt reduction

Support Optimisation and Scalability: Improve platform efficiency, performance, and resilience of services

Leverage CI/CD and Observability:
- Optimise pipelines, platforms, and deployment practices
- Ensure operational readiness and quick incident resolution

Embedding customer focus: Collaborate and influence across product, commercial, and business teams to shape MVNx capabilities

Capabilities and Experience
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in modern programming languages/frameworks (Java, Spring Boot, Kotlin, Node.js, Python, etc.)
- Experience with microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and event-driven architectures
- Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), containerisation (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes)
- Experience with automated testing (unit, integration), CI/CD pipelines, code quality tools (SonarQube, etc.), and observable architectures (Prometheus, OpenTelemetry)
- Engineering Practices:
- Fluent in secure coding principles; able to implement robust verifications and defences
- Building resilient systems with emphasis on SDLC best practices and critical design decisions that harmonise scalability, security, and fault tolerance
- Team Collaboration:
- Experience working effectively within product-centric, cross-disciplinary squads
- Write and follow platform facing documentation, such as API specs, UIKKT, infrastructure best practices, patterns
Education and Development
- Degree level qualifications in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent industry experience
- Commitment to ongoing professional and skill development
- Imaginative and curious mindset to evolve solutions in line with emerging tech trends
